“We are pleased that, for the first time in the
history of Eurogiro, we are able to have our
Asia Pacific Community meeting and the ad-
jacent Asia Pacific Customer Council meeting
here in the beautiful city of Hanoi, Vietnam.

On October 21st 2014, Eurogiro held its Annual Eurogiro Community
meeting at the Fortuna Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam. Most Eurogiro members
from the region attended the meeting. We were also fortunate to
have a variety of speakers that represented the range of payment
technologies and channels. These included NCore Systems, Bux.com,
Uglii Corporation and Western Union.

Asia Pacific Community
Meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam
Poste Italiane and Poṣta Moldovei, the
designated operator of Moldova, have signed
a co-operation agreement for money transfer
from over 9,000 authorised Italian post offices
to the 1,148 post offices located throughout
Moldova. Thanks to this partnership between
the two designated operators, Moldovan
people living in Italy will now be able to send
home up to 1,000 Euro with a fee of just 5
Euro.
The new service launched last October repre-
sents an important result from an international
point of view, and in particular with regard
to the process of Moldova’s approach to the
European Union. In less than one month from
the launch, the service has met with great
approval from customers and results are very
positive.
Today there are in Italy more than 9,000 post
offices authorised for the transfer of funds
to foreign countries and Poste Italiane is
constantly committed to new agreements
aimed at developing the service in other
countries too and promoting the integration of
migrants. These main objectives also confirm
the commitment of Poste Italiane to fighting
financial exclusion and establishing a lasting
relationship that can generate benefits in the
long term.
In order to request the service all a customer
needs to do is to go to one of the Italian post

The new cash payment service between Italy and Moldova is taking
advantage of the interconnection between the payment networks of
Eurogiro and UPU and is expected to transform payments via informal
channels into regulated transactions.

then be available to the beneficiary within 48
hours of the sending request in Italy. The ben-
eficiaries in Moldova will be able to cash the
amount either in Euro or in Moldovan Lei.

Hanoi: On 21 October 2014, most of the
Eurogiro members from Asia Pacific met in
Hanoi’s Fortuna Hotel to exchange ideas,
inspire and learn both from each other and
also from the guest speakers from pay-
ment and technology specialists, such as
NCore Systems, Bux.com, Uglii Corpora-
tion and Western Union. Members present
were from Agribank (VN), ANZ Bank (AU),
Bangkok Bank, India Post, Japan Post
Bank, Korea Post, Landbank (PH), National
Savings Bank (LK), Philippine Postal Cor-
poration, Thailand Post, and Vietnam Post.
Vietnam Post also treated the participants
to a wonderful evening celebration.
