Eurogiro Newsletter January 2015 - page 5

Eurogiro traditionally is a unique payments
network connecting different payments “eco-
systems”. In this way the Eurogiro member
community (postal organisations, post banks,
commercial banks and other payment service
providers) can efficiently exchange transac-
tions, focusing on cross border high volume
– low value payments.
Eurogiro also facilitates members’ coopera-
tion in the field of international payments and
offers efficient solutions to supporting their
offering to clients. Eurogiro can help increase
the business of its members. Now a new
service for Eurogiro members is introduced:
prepaid financial services by issuing prepaid
reloadable cards.
Prepaid reloadable cards minimise the need
for cash payments, facilitate (government)
payments in a controlled electronic way
and minimise the cost of payments. Euro-
giro members can offer alternative ways for
payments to their customers, thus increasing
close customer contact and increasing busi-
ness and business value.
In this way prepaid financial services generate
physical presence in post offices and banks
with possibilities to create opportunities for
cross and upselling.
Background and motivation
The major obstacle to introducing card
services, besides regulatory aspects, are the
major investments needed in organisation, IT
and compliancy. By offering a hosted solution
in close cooperation with a licensed partner,
these obstacles can be largely reduced.

In 2015, Eurogiro prepares to offer prepaid reloadable cards to expand
financial services and increase business value for our members.
and e-commerce payment solutions compa-
ny, licensed by VISA and MasterCard and
operating internationally. It offers services to
partners, merchants, banks, and cardholders
around the world.
Eurogiro members can offer prepaid financial
services to simplify the process of sending
money. The physical and virtual cards are
general purpose prepaid cards with Chip
& Pin functionality, reloadable through the
Eurogiro network. The cards are fully func-
tional, like other prepaid cards, and can be
used in stores, for e-commerce and at ATMs
around the world.
Spending limits and other restrictions can be
set up on the partner’s platform in accordance
with members’ demands. Our partner provides
the creation of the cards (issuing), the pro-
cessing of cards transactions (acquiring) and
can optionally offer support to members who
will handle the daily customer interactions and
service themselves. Within Europe, the cards
can be settled in Euros, Pound Sterling, Swiss
Francs, Danish Kroner, Norwegian Kroner and
Swedish Kroner.
The Eurogiro member can add their own look
and feel to the card, as long as it meets brand
standards.
Roadmap
In 2015, the Eurogiro network will be
connected to the processing platform of the
service provider, which will then be available
to Eurogiro members via standard Eurogiro
interfaces. In this way the complexity of the
technology is made transparent for the Euro-
giro member.
European roll-out is available in 2015 whilst
worldwide availability is as of 2016.
Rollout of the new services will be on a project
base determined by the requirements of the
Eurogiro member and the specific rules and
regulations of the geographic region or coun-
try. A typical implementation project will take,
on average, three to six months after signing.
Members can obtain more information and
apply for rollout as of now.
