Eurogiro is currently developing the technology for the Eurogiro – UPU interconnection and has entered into a partnership with Ganart technologies to bring the latest technology for the frst and last mile to posts
Eurogiro News 3
Eurogiro has been moving forward at a good pace with our technical development to underpin the recent agreement with the Uni-versal Postal Union (UPU). The interconnec-tion will be available for Designated Postal Operators to exchange postal payment services and will extend the global reach for the posts among the Eurogiro members. We are pleased to note the interest from the UPU and several postal organisations in the interconnection.
For the frst time Eurogiro has entered into a partnership with a technology provider which focuses on bringing the most advanced tech-nology within branch infrastructure to posts and other institutions with large networks. Ganart’s solutions are based on ‘cloud com-puting‘ and cater for domestic needs as well

as catering for the requirements necessary to take advantage of Eurogiro cross-border solutions. This issue features an interview with Ganart on the opportunity.
Looking at SEPA, end-date discussions and recent exits among infrastructure providers, let me mention that Eurogiro has released its due update according to the EPC rulebook enhancements and will continue to offer cost-effcient payment exchange complying with SEPA requirements for its members in Europe. Our set-up enables members to use existing channels, settlement arrangements and partners, along with the SEPA SCT & core SDD schemes.
Finally, I am very pleased to present our new chairman of the Eurogiro Board, Ms Sylvie Solignac, from La Banque Postale in France.
Sylvie Solignac is well known in the Eurogiro community and among posts in particular. In this magazine we have invited the new chair-man to present the main topics for her term in the chair. 3
Joint marketing activities with Eurogiro members in the Asia Pacifc Region
Conducting remittances via Eurogiro is our core business and we are very keen to undertake some advertising projects to increase transaction volumes by means of Eurogiro. This year, we have undertaken joint marketing activities with Eurogiro members such as Bangkok Bank, Thailand Post etc.
Such joint marketing activities are a very ef-fective means of contacting potential custom-ers directly. Participants in festivals are made up of not only Japanese but also Thai people and the combination of both company logos gave people the impression that the services we provide are reliable and interlinked.
In Bangkok, Thailand, Thailand Post and Bangkok Bank coordinated joint marketing activities with Japan Post Bank on May 30th
and 31st, 2011. We distributed fliers made by them at a Japanese supermarket and at some post offices. Both marketing teams collaborated with Japan Post Bank to explain our services to potential customers.
Also in Manila Philippines, Philippine Post and Land Bank coordinated joint marketing
activities with Japan Post Bank on July 14th and 15th, 2011.
Japan Post Bank also plans to undertake joint marketing activities with Vietnam Post, Standard Chartered Bank, Caixa Econômica Federal and Deutsche Bank this year.
Japan Post Bank provides international remit-tance services throughout the country - There are approx. 7,500 post offices and a further 233 post bank branches that handle interna-tional remittance. 3
