Eurogiro News 5

Interview with Tony Cacheria and Wayne McHugh of Ganart Technologies

Why was Ganart created?

Tony Cacheria: The unbanked of the world need to be reached with modern, fair transac-tion systems. We felt historically theyʼve been left out. So, we took up the challenge. We used our expertise to create technology to deliver services to the unbanked, no matter where they are. We made it flexible to allow assisted service or 24X7 extended service, as, their time is just as valuable as anyone elseʼs. We want to serve the unbanked with simple interfaces that will win trust with handling of their services in their local native language.

Why did Ganart seek out Eurogiro?

Wayne McHugh: We brainstormed and quickly concluded that the global postal system is the largest and most trusted network that the unbanked use. From there we looked for companies that had extensive relationships, with great core technology that also had a positive presence and trust within the postal community. Eurogiro quickly came to the top of our list.

What do you see as the benefits of a Eurogiro/ Ganart partnership to the postal community?

Tony: Eurogiroʼs Gateway solution fits per-fectly with our quest to bring transactional service to the unbanked, and make the post the preferred destination for services and information. Our partnership allows posts to strengthen its distribution network while creating a strong post brand loyalty. And most

importantly, create a trusted place for financial inclusion that ensures its relevance for years to come.

How else do you see Eurogiro/Ganart helping the postal community?

Tony: It takes an already trusted institution to another level, extending its brand with new products, like post branded money remit-tances, post to post intra country payments and future services to come.

What about postal locations in rural, uncon-nected areas?

Wayne: We have also come up with a solu-tion for connectivity issues as well. By using technology and techniques, a post can use the same system for connected and uncon-nected sites. Here is the exciting part, once

those sites gain connectivity, they are brought onto the live system without the need for any new hardware or software, which means no additional costs, once the system is installed.

What about small or under-funded posts? Can you help them?

Wayne: We have a solution here as well. By centrally locating data centers, say one in Hong Kong and one in Singapore, we can bring the same level of services to smaller posts throughout the Asia Pacific region by hosting multiple posts across the same infrastructure. This allows posts to join together in a community initiative, and split the costs of infrastructure and maintenance. We have been working with Juanita Woodward, Eurogiro A/S, Singapore Representative Office on this and other initiatives. We plan on traveling to Asia this fall to present this exciting opportunity to several post and post bank communities. 3
